Materials Sourcing
Sourcing replacements for damaged materials can be a daunting task. JBC is here to help. Our team of conservators has developed relationships with manufacturers and artisans to help source or develop custom products to match existing materials. We have an extensive library of material samples including sand and aggregates, tile, and bricks from every major manufacturer, and stone from both domestic and foreign quarries.
Our sourcing skills are not just for historic materials. We have developed custom products for new construction including a large format, frost-proof tile for use in New York City Subway entrances. We have a unique understanding of how materials deteriorate, manufacturing capabilities, and aesthetic concerns and apply this to the design of new materials that are sure to survive the test of time.
We also provide quality control services and can inspect materials for conformance with control samples and contract documents.
